Study for a book cover: an Italian edition of James Joyce's Dubliners (1914)
After reading the book, I felt deeply inspired by the last story, The Dead. I chose to paint a moment of which we are made aware hours after it happened, that is when a particular song is played, and Gretta remembers something, losing herself in those memories.
In my watercolor you can see Gretta in that very instant: the memories are coming back, so strongly she stopped what she was doing to listen, to revive those times again.
As my references for the graphic project I chose the series of books ET SCRITTORI by the Italian publisher Einaudi Editore.
I used their edition of the book and their logos only for educational purpose.
